Let's go for a Sail
Let's launch the sailboat
and go for a sail
the wind's hardly blowing
but we'll pretend it's a gale
Let's sail to the island
and both find wood swords
then hike all around it
until we get bored
We'll have a great sword fight
and hunt buried treasure
we'll wait out a hurricane
although it's nice weather
Then out on the sand bar
far out a good ways
we'll search for sea creatures
and track down sting rays
We'll track them and catch them
a hundred or more
it will make a fine story
even if we see only four
Then up a great pine tree
we'll climb to the sky
to set up a lookout
for pirate ships passing by
We'll shoot with our cannons
and scare them away
our ammo's just pine cones
but that's fine for today
Then when we get hungry
we'll throw a great feast
and invite the whole island
several thousand at least
The sea gull, the tortoise
and the pelicans three
they'll all come to feast
with my daddy and me
We'll pass out big bread crumbs
the sea gulls will chatter
I'll share my whole sandwich
it won't really matter
Then back to our sailboat
we'll row out with the swell
the whole island will cheer
and bid us farewell
We'll wave to the pelican
then wave to the tortoise
we'll throw crumbs to the sea gull
and watch for the porpoise
Then up with the mainsail
we'll hoist it up high
and with the breeze blowing
I know we'll just fly
We'll sail home to my mommy
across the great sea
it's really a river
but looks big to me
On the dock will be waiting
my sister and mother
and if it's not nap time
my own baby brother
And when he gets older
we'll go for a sail
with the wind hardly blowing
we'll pretend it's a gale.
